Choosing the Right Cut of Diamond
Diamond rings are not only beautiful, they are synonymous with some of life’s most special occasions and meaningful sentiments. Of course, diamonds are frequently used in engagement rings, but diamonds — the most precious of stones — also feature in some of the most exquisite pieces of jewellery ever produced.
The four Cs
When choosing a diamond or piece of jewellery including diamonds, many people are aware (or quickly learn) of the relevance of considering a diamond’s most significant characteristics, commonly referred to as the four Cs: cut, colour, carat and clarity. A diamond’s overall value is determined by these four characteristics and, understandably, many people aspire to purchase, give or wear diamonds of the best quality possible.
The Best Bling to Wear to Your Formal
You only go to your formal once, so you’re going to want to do it up in a big way when your turn comes around, and having some decent bling is an important part of the process. If you don’t already have something special to wear, your formal is a good excuse to finally get yourself some decent bling. The following are some bling suggestions for formals.
Necklaces
Man or woman, necklaces can be quite a spectacular item of bling, regardless of their size, so if you’re looking for a place to bling it up, try around your neck. Women’s necklace options are endless, with a huge range going from the ultra simple to the elaborate and extravagant — although more money doesn’t always mean more style. Stylish men can easily pull off a well-selected necklace, with chunkier and simpler designs often proving to be fantastic fashion accessories and super stylish male bling.
Cleaning Your Gold Jewellery Correctly
If you’re lucky enough to have a beautiful piece of gold jewellery, you’d better take care of it, as gold is one of those symbols of wealth that will always be recognised. While gold doesn’t exactly tarnish, it can lose its lustre and become dull, and you also have to be careful not to scratch it. Otherwise, gold is quite simple to take care of, so make sure you do the bare minimum to keep your gold looking positively royal. The following simple cleaning tips are sure to help.
Dish soap
Soak your item of gold jewellery in a bowl of warm soapy water for 15 minutes, using as gentle dish soap as you can find. Use your fingers to rub off any dirt or grime on the ring, taking your time to clean every part; you can also use an old toothbrush, but make sure it has very soft bristles. Otherwise, jewellery brushes are available. Next, rinse your item with warm water and dab dry the with a soft, dry piece of cloth before leaving it to air dry on any clean surface for a couple of hours.
Symbolism of the Wedding Ring
The wedding ring is one of the most recognisable and understood symbols of two people being married. Just as a diamond ring commonly represents betrothal, engagement and intention to be married, the wedding ring signifies that two people have been joined through the institution of marriage.
Wedding rings are highly symbolic and have a history that is not only rich and extensive, but characterised by some mystery.
Where did the symbolism begin?
Awareness of the use of wedding rings originates in North Africa and with the ancient Egyptian civilisation. The River Nile was pivotal to the lives, livelihood and well-being of the ancient Egyptian people and was adored by them. Beside the papyrus that grew along the banks of the Nile, rushes and reeds were twisted and plaited to create rings and other forms of jewellery.
A History of How Diamonds Came to Dominate Engagement Rings
We commonly and readily accept that a diamond ring symbolises the engagement and intention to be married of two people. As such a precious, strong, durable and beautiful stone, it seems fitting that a diamond is typically used for a ring that represents adoration, commitment and, of course, love.
While we are likely to admire and treasure diamond engagement rings, few of us really understand the history and reasons for diamonds being featured and why this tradition has persisted for so many years. Here we take a look at the history of diamonds being used in engagement rings.

What is the most important ‘C’ when choosing your perfect Diamond
No doubt that you have been inundated with massive amounts of information about Diamonds. Most jewellers would have emphasised the importance of Colour and Clarity.
